Living in the mountains has its attributes. I love being close to nature in a way that makes the changes which occur in the world around us evident on almost a daily basis. This piece was inspired by the coming promise of spring, with the morning air still cold and the afternoon sun pleasantly warming my thoughts to anticipate the dirt I would soon have my fingers and toes in.

One of my favorite recurring themes is music. Music, music, music... It's never far from me, whether I'm listening or singing, embarassing my kids in public. There is nothing quite like a live performance, whether a small and personal venue or a huge arena show. The electricity and connection that you get to be a part of is so amazing and memorable. Music truly is the voice of your soul.

My father mastered the art of coffee and cigarettes. This handsome man surprised me in the way he came about, proving to be an image of my dad with each bit of glass that I glued into place without ever coming out to say "Hello!" until the piece was completed. This is only one of the ways I see my father when I think of him, but this is one of my favorites. I see this image and I wonder "What is he thinking about?", just as I always did when he was alive. He was always good for a thoughtful and intelligent convesation. The man could think.

wedding gift

I created this out of a need for a unique wedding gift for a family member I had never met. When I am not completely immersed in glass bits and beads, I have a love of painting and clay that is part genetic memory and part brilliant high school art teacher. I'm happy to try new things, and this one was well received.

I had so much fun creating this one! I really do love rock n roll, and nothing compares to a live show. When I've completed a piece, I like to know when it finds it's way into the proper hands, a happy owner with a personal connection. After all, I put my heart and soul into every tiny detail, start to finish. Gladly, this one has the best home it could, with a music lover and former student in my neck of the woods.

Ages ago, I had a friend who lived in a matchbox apartment on the second floor of a house owned by an attorney. It was a place I was always apprehensive and at the same time excited to go, because I never knew what would happen once I got there. That house holds memories for me that make me grateful--grateful for the friends, for the experiences, and to know what not to do now that I've grown up.
